What is World Hoop Day?

Français ici.

Last year, people on six continents synchronized their hoops on July 7th in the first World Hoop Day, with hundreds of custom hoops given away and money raised for charity.

This year, this international event will be taking place on August 8th in various venues across Montréal, Canada. The intention is to raise awareness about the positive act of hooping, the global “hoopdance” phenomenon and bring together Montréal’s very own hooping community.

Ultimately, if it is true that "outer peace begins with inner peace," then by collectively cultivating self-acceptance through hooping, we are one big step closer toward world peace.

Why Hoop?

But why hooping? Well, it’s because the circle itself is a powerful and timeless symbol, encompassing wholeness, completion, equality and revolution.

The circle is considered sacred in many cultures, and it is the blueprint of universe itself: from the orbits of the stars and planets, down to the very atoms of matter, we revolve around each other and yet we remain in the centre.

Hoopdance is a joyous expression of this universal reality.
